Objectives
Many conditions effect children differently than they do adults and the elderly. Because pharmacists routinely see children in thier practice, pediatrics is an important subject in building and broadening a pharmacist's clinical skills. This course provides the latest therapeutic information, guidelines, and treatment algorithms for a variety of contexts, including NICU considerations, upper respiratory infections, critical care, gastroenterology, pharmacotherapy, bronchiolitis, and chronic epilepsies. Methods to improve the delivery of pharmacotherapy and population-based strategies are covered, as are methods by which pharmacists can take responsibility for health care outcomes within systems of care.
Procedure
Students will receive the required texts soon after enrollment. Students should read the entire text and all handouts then complete the exam contained in the PSAP module and return it to the instructor. The instructor will grade the exam and return it to the student along with a grade. Students are allowed to retake the exam once if a failing grade is received on the first attempt. A booklet containing the answers to the exam questions will be mailed to the student upon completion of the program.
