| All students must pass two courses in order to complete the experiential component of the curriculum. It is expected that students will receive credit for prior learning experiences for at least part of the experiential component of the curriculum. The amount of credit awarded to each student for prior learning experiences will be based on a written portfolio submitted by each student, in which the learning acheived through previous experiences is described. These prior learning experiences will be evaluated by the assessment committee to determine if competencies have been acheived in objective catagories established for this component of the curriculum. Any students who are not granted full credit for the experiential component of the curriculum will have to complete it through additional experience in the workplace, up to a maximum of five months. All workplaces must be pre-approved by the course instructor before any credit will be awarded. The Rio Grande College of Pharmacy does not provide assistance in securing employment to satisfy the experiential cuurriculum. Most workplaces involving patient contact, however, will provide the required clinical environment and most students' current workplaces can be approved. Faculty will guide students through this experiential learning and students will have to submit periodic reports and self-reviews. |
